IF ai wouldn't be so dumb-acting, I'd even give a shot again. I really liked graphics but RTS and play vs AI is great no-no for me after playing turnbased, historically accurate games vs other players. I hope this will help a bit in clearing this really challenging scenario. Use officers with better line of vision to recon thorougly before moving in. Again be cautious as the enemy always strikes where you do not expect. Street by street recapture the city until the last tank or soldier is destroyed.

and have fun with german infantry which has no anti-tank capabilities. Get a couple of tanks on the cliffs north of the city where your howitzers used to be ( I hope you destroyed them). Save the game often otherwise you might run out of forces before the game ends.ġ0. Be very careful to move tanks in the city - they are an easy prey, so move forward if you know that the area is clear. Use your long range weapons to get as many of them as possible. The soldeirs in the buildings in the city provide excellent intelligence on where the enemy is. Ferry them across the river and prepare for assault. The city is enemy hands and all you have is little strip of land between bunkers and the river. Soon the enemy will be bloodied to the point where the attacks will cease.ĩ. I was able to knock out 20 tanks at the expense of my 2 tanks and 2 artillery guns. Meet any wave coming out of the city with strong fire. Put heavy tanks and artillery in between the bunkers and reinforce it with Katyushas. Set up a killing ground near the bunkers on the river. Anti-tank guns are destroyed and the infantry is being slaughtered. By this time you are probably pushed out of the city almost completely. The heavy armor wave is the strongest and most powerful with Tigers and Panthers pushing in (historical nonsense ?). The enemy waves go like this: rcon wave, armor wave, large infantry wave, heavy armor wave.

Watch out for air assaults as the german aviation seems very keen on repeatedly destroying the bridge.ħ. Don't forget to ferry additional troops across the river. retreat Katyushas and the remaining armor to the outskirts of the city near river bank. Use PTR units to smother small tanks and armored cars. Place mines on the corners of the streets. At this point infantry does the bulk of the fighting. They will be your recon force since germans don't search every single building.Ħ. Put some soldiers in the houses with "no fire" order. Retreat the remaining soldiers to the city. Destroy your long-range artillery otherwise it fall in the hands of germans and they will fire it at you. At this time your initial defenses are overrun. Use them on especially large formations of enemy pushing forward.ĥ. Get the supply trucks near them to reload the mortars. Move Katyushas in the city ASAP in the central square - I call it "tractor factory" for industrial buildings nearby. Keep your supply trucks ready and as soon as the bombing stops send them to repair the bridge. The bridge is constantly being destroyed by german aviation. Get your tanks out of the city and into the river bank near the pillboxes. Direct your firepower from long-range artillery to destroy as many as possible. The enemy comes in waves, first comes the recon wave - some tanks and infantry, motorcycles and armored cars. They will be overrun anyways by a huge force.ģ. Don't waste time arranging the defenses of the city. Before playing the scenario pause the game and look around to get an idea of what to do.Ģ. If you still want to play the Russian campaign at Stalingrad here are a few tips you may find useful while playing thise scenario without cheats:ġ. I wasn`t aware of any cheats, so maybe I`ll try again My PAK guns on the hill north of the city are destroyed at once so loads of tanks drives rigth into the city and attack my infantery Erik E wrote:I must have tried at least 20 times.
